Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9th of July, 2026.

The New German (“we”, “us”) takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit new-german.com, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible?

Controller within the meaning of the GDPR:

2. Hosting

Our website is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. When you visit our site, the web server automatically processes technical data (IP address, date and time of access, browser type, pages visited) in server log files. This is necessary to deliver the website and to ensure its security and stability (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest). Log files are automatically deleted after [e.g. 14] days.

3. Content delivery network (Cloudflare)

We use Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) as a content delivery network and to protect the site against attacks. Your requests to our website are routed through Cloudflare’s servers, which process your IP address and technical connection data. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (secure and fast delivery of the website). More: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

4. Contact form and email

If you contact us via the contact form or by email, we process the data you provide (name, email address, message) solely to answer your inquiry (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). We delete this data once your inquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention periods apply.

5. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process your email address to send it to you. We use the double opt-in procedure: your subscription only becomes active once you confirm it via a link sent to your email address. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every newsletter. The newsletter is sent via the MailPoet plugin from our own server; [if MailPoet Sending Service is used, add: dispatch is handled by MailPoet’s sending service (Wysija SARL, France)].

6. Membership accounts

If you register for a membership, we process the data required to manage your account: name, email address, chosen membership level, and — for paid levels — billing information. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (performance of a contract). Your account data is stored for as long as your membership exists and afterwards only as long as legally required.

7. Payments (Stripe)

Paid memberships are processed by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Dublin, Ireland). Your payment data (e.g. card details) is transmitted directly to Stripe and is not stored on our servers. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR. More: https://stripe.com/privacy

8. Cookies

We only set cookies that are technically necessary, for example when you log in to your membership account or submit a form. These cookies do not track you across other websites and do not require a consent banner. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

9. Security (Wordfence)

To protect the website against attacks, we use the security plugin Wordfence (Defiant Inc., USA), which processes IP addresses of visitors to detect and block malicious traffic. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (protection of our systems).

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21). If you have given consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. To exercise your rights, contact us at [contact email]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy when our website or the legal situation changes. The current version is always available on this page
